Based on the dark, tragic 1986 Academy Award-winning film Platoon, which catapulted Charlie Sheen to stardom and confirmed the star status of Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe and Forest Whitaker, the Platoon slots game uses photo-real icons, snatches of the film’s soundtrack, and jungle and military sound-effects to create a brooding atmosphere. Regular Platoon Play
Low-value icons in Platoon, as is common, are the poker symbols 9, 10, J, Q, K and A, rendered in a bold stencil font adorned with military dog-tags. A 3-symbol consecutive match starting on the left-most reel on a bet line is the minimum requirement for a win, and low-value symbols pay out from 3 coins for triple 9s or 10s, to 70 coins for 5 A’s. The high-value icons are all pictures of some of the film’s leading characters in costume; in ascending order of value: Reggie Johnson, Forest Whitaker, Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe and Charlie Sheen.

The Wild & Multiplier icon is a camouflaged Tank, which substitutes for any icon except for the Bonus, and also adds a 3X multiplier to any winning combinations that feature the Wild. Any Wilds that appear on Reels 2, 3, 4 or 5 remain on the screen after the win is paid and shift 1 reel to the left, awarding a free respin. The respins end when all Wilds have exited the screen. This feature of the Platoon Wild is available both in standard play and during free spins rounds.
Free Spins Bonus Rounds
Platoon carries the jungle-camouflage theme through to its Bonus icon, which is a combat Helicopter. 3 Helicopters in regular play trigger a bonus of 8 free spins and add a multiplier of 5X the total bet, 4 will trigger 10 free spins and 10X the total bet, and 5 are rewarded with 12 free spins and 15X the total bet. Unlike normal play, during free spins wins are calculated both ways, starting on Reel 1 or Reel 5, and pay the highest win per line.
If 3 or more Helicopter icons appear during the free spins, they trigger 8, 10 or 12 more free spins, although they do not increase the multiplier for the round. However, the combination of free spins, Wilds that trigger respins and the Bonus icon’s additional multipliers make this round the section of the game in which the most impressive wins can be racked up.
